How to address the pay question in interviews?

How to address the pay question in interviews?

Pay will always come up eventually but never ask about remuneration in the first interview. Leave it to at least the 2nd or 3rd. If you are using a recruiter, it is best to ask them first before asking the company directly.

How do I answer personal questions in interviews?

This question is asked so interviewers can peel back some layers and get to know the person behind the “corporate suit”. If you feel comfortable, answer the question honestly, i.e. I enjoy running marathons or relaxing by the beach with friends and family. If you eventually get the job, they will most likely find out these things about you then anyway. Be careful not to share information about yourself that could create a negative unconscious bias towards you… Such as if you like to go boxing… be careful that you are not sharing this with someone who hates boxing.

What will the interviewer ask me during the interview?

Every interview is different but come prepared to talk about who you are and what your career goals/next steps are. Be open and honest about your strengths and abilities. Never lie. Research the company you are being interviewed by as the interviewer may ask you certain questions about them.

How do I behave in group interviews?

Ensure everyone has a chance to speak and do not speak over someone. Use your time wisely and try to think of a different way of answering a question compared to the others in the room. Stand out without being invasive. Site bullet points and be punchy, show that you are a quick and agile thinker.

How do I answer the ‘weaknesses’ question in interviews?

We are all human and therefore we all have areas of improvement – this is certainly not a detriment to ourselves or to the interview. By identifying your weakness, it shows you are aware of it and willing to learn techniques on how to change/improve

What’s the difference between a coffee interview and a job interview?

A coffee interview is often more casual and for the recruiter/interviewer to get to know if you would be a culturally good fit for the company/role. A job interview is where the questions are more challenging as the interviewer needs to determine whether you have the skills and ability to undertake the role. You would provide examples of where you have done/achieved XYZ etc.
