What to wear for an interview – Gents

Would recommend a suit with shirt no tie for more casual workplaces. better to overdress than underdress so best to ask if a tie is recommended. If the client is more mature, they may find no tie offensive.

What to wear for interview- Ladies

Depending on the type of company you are interviewing for (i.e. is it a corporate law firm or a laid-back creative agency) it is always safer to be overdressed than not. Do some research on the company and its’ policies as they might help you decipher what their internal values are and therefore what type of people they might be. Alternatively, ask your recruiter as they have an understanding of who the client (your interviewer) are. If you wear something too outrageous that draws attention to you then people may judge you by what you wear rather than by what you say and think

When is a good time to look for a job in the industry I’m studying in?

For full-time work, it is best to start looking for work towards the end of your degree as you will not have the capacity for full-time employee whilst studying. It may take some time for any roles to become available and then furthermore, the process of applying for roles can also be time-consuming. Apply for full-time roles once you are nearing the end of the semester but be prepared for nothing to eventuate until the new year. Internships and part-time work are an excellent way of gaining experience over the summer holidays

How do I write a resume with a first page summary?

Artificial Intelligence today often scans the first page and then grades your candidate validity so first-page content is critical. Your first page must be clear and succinct, no fluff. Ensure all your most important information is collated on the one page as this is often all that is scanned when your CV is digitally read.
