Beverage Development Manager-Technical Role

Currently we are seeking to appoint a Beverage Development Manager to join a highly regarded global wine business.
This is newly created role, reporting to the Director of Global Wine, Quality and Compliance.
Working collaboratively with the marketing and product teams, you will lead, and manage, the development of new beverages to support the business’ growth ambitions from a NPD perspective.

Key tasks of the role include:

• Accountable for the creation of commercially-viable beverages that match the product development briefs from the Marketing Department.
• Assessment of existing products and benchmarking of new product development against target objectives.
• Liaison with flavour and aroma houses in the creation and development of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to meet the businesses requirements.
• Accountable for the creation of complex beverages – including but not limited to – flavour additives, carbonation, colours, etc.
• Working with QA/QC in the full chemical and analytical testing of new liquid formats to meet consumer and customer expectations.
• Collaborative partnerships with packaging suppliers and in-house technologists in bringing to life new beverages and packaging formats to meet the company’s innovation objectives. Include designing repeatable shelf-life trials.
• Responsible for timely execution of NPD projects and accuracy in forecasting total cost of goods from a liquid perspective.
• Industry research on new beverage development techniques for application within the wine portfolio

The person we are looking for will have well developed aroma and flavour assessment skills along with demonstrated chemistry and analytical skills within the beverage industry. As the company looks to grow our portfolio and diversify our brand offering, we are looking for someone who not only has a good knowledge of wine, but also understands market trends.  

We require a minimum of 3 years FMCG industry experience, preferably in an R&D role in the beverage sector.  In addition, you will have an understanding of beverage chemistry and analytical composition gained through previous experience in a quality control / laboratory environment.
